You want the house appearing
spacious, not empty.
Here are a couple of old real estate tricks.
I said earlier you were going to use your oven. Prior to Open House,
put some frozen bread in the oven and set it at low temperature. You
are not going to be eating this so don’t concern yourself with the
directions. If you like to bake you could mix up some bread dough.
The idea is to get the smell of fresh baked bread permeating the
house.
Another thing you can do if you don’t have any bread dough is to cut
up a couple of apples and bake them on low☺. The aroma this creates
sparks a subconscious desire to stay around just like at home.
If you are painting put a few drops of vanilla essence in the paint
can and mix it up well. It won’t affect the color or properties of
the paint but it will get rid of the paint smell. ☺
As you walk around before the showing or Open House turning all the
lights on, and if you smell that things are not as fresh as you
would like, put a drop of vanilla or your favorite perfume on the
light bulbs in the table lamps BEFORE you turn them on. Make sure
the liquid is just a drop and that it doesn’t run down to the base
of the lamp bulb.
As the light bulb heats up, it will infuse the air with the scent
you have chosen. ☺
NEVER DO THIS TO A HOT LAMP OR ONE THAT IS TURNED ON.
If the scent does not last as long as you like, turn off the lamp
and let it cool down before you repeat the process.
If you put cold liquid on a hot light bulb, it will explode!
Well, you’ve done all the work, so let’s go to the fun stuff. |
